What is Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Program?

It is a long-term visa program offered by the Malaysian government that allows foreign nationals to live in Malaysia on a renewable social visit pass with multiple-entry visa. The program is designed to attract retirees, professionals, and individuals who want to live in Malaysia for an extended period.

Can I apply MM2H on my own instead using an agent?

According to the new terms and conditions set by MOTAC, the application must be submitted and completed through an MM2H tour operating business that is licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture under the Tourism Industry Act 1992 [Act 482]

Can I add in dependents like spouse, children, parents, or parents in-law later?

You may add dependents after your application has been submitted, but please note that additional charges will apply for their inclusion. Proof of relationship, such as certified marriage certificates, birth certificates, and/or legal adoption papers, will be required

Will I be granted Permanent Residency (PR) status if I apply for MM2H?

No, applying for the MM2H (Malaysia My Second Home) program does not grant you Permanent Residency (PR) status in Malaysia. MM2H is a long-term visa program that allows foreign nationals to stay in Malaysia for an extended period, but it is a social visit visa, not a permanent residency status. It is also cannot be converted to PR status.

Can I change/switch my MM2H tier?

No, you must cancel your current application and submit a new one. An additional service fee will be applied to cover administrative costs.

Are all approved applicants required to spend 90 days a year in Malaysia?

The minimum stay requirement is only for those aged under 50. Both the principal and their dependents can assist each other in achieving the 90-day stay per calendar year. It does not apply to those over 50 or reach the age of 50 after joining the programme.

How soon do I have to buy property after my MM2H pass is endorsed?

Approved applicants have one year to buy a property. MM2H agents are expected to check this is done. Non-compliance may result in the visa being revoked.

Can the property be owned by individuals other than the MM2H pass holders

It can be shared ownership with anyone who was listed on the conditional approval letter.

I bought a residential property before applying the MM2H program. Can I request to withdraw 50% of the fixed deposit after my MM2H pass is endorsed?

No, applicants who purchased property before the endorsement (prior to obtaining the MM2H pass) are not eligible to withdraw from their MM2H Fixed Deposit as the Sale and Purchase agreement must be dated after the MM2H pass is endorsed. However, they may request partial withdrawals for medical treatment, educational expenses for their children under the MM2H program, or domestic travel expenses within Malaysia.

Is there any specific bank required to open FD account for MM2H program?

There isn’t a specific bank required for opening a Fixed Deposit (FD) account. You can use any bank operating legally in Malaysia, whether it is a local or foreign bank.

If I decide to leave Malaysia after several years, will the MM2H Fixed Deposit be refunded?

Your MM2H Fixed Deposit can only be refunded after you have officially cancelled or terminated your MM2H visa. You will receive the full principal amount, along with any interest earned.
